Sant’Agata Militello (11 km from the Residence) is known for its commercial port, for the 15th century Castle Gallego, the site of various exhibitions and events and the Museum of Nebrodi that homes many important historic and anthropologic testimonies of the city. It has a beautiful promenade on the water, several shopping centers and excellent restaurants where one can enjoy delicious fresh fish. In the evening one can order drinks and have fun at the beach resorts or at the nightclub located just a short distance from the Sea. Capo D’Orlando (32Km from the Residence) is a splendid city in the Nebrodi, characterized by a beautiful Sea, by the charming old city center of S. Gregorio and numerous cafes, restaurants, nightclubs, and tourist venues. San Marco (24 Km from the Residence) is an ancient city located 520 meters above sea level, dating from the 4th century B.C. In the higher part of the city are the ruins of the Castle of San Marco, which was constructed by Roberto Guiscardo in 1061. Among the 22 churches that are found in the city, one must visit the Church of San Marco, the Church of San Teodoro, constructed in the 16th century, and interiorly decorated with magnificent stucco. The Benedictine Monastery, constructed in 1545, the Church of Our Lady Annunziata that houses a statue of the Virgin Mary in marble of Carrara from the 15th century, which stands on a pedestal that depicts the medieval city, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, the church Santa Maria delle Grazie, that contains the gravestone of Filangeri, the work of Domenico Gagini, the 18th century Church of San Basilio and the 16th century church of the Arca Coeli, and the Church of San Salvatore, known as the Great Abbey with its elegant entrance in marble with angles and cherubs.

Santo Stefano di Camastra (18 Km from the Residence) is the city known as the “Land of Pottery” for its production of artistic ceramics of all kinds. The numerous shops of the city, display colorful dishes, vases, and ceramics of all types with refined and cherished designs. It is difficult to resist the temptation to buy something. Also interesting to visit is the Cathedral of 1865 and the Church of SS Mary of Catena. |
